Sir Baldrick Hints At New Blackadder

Update: (24/08/15)

I have just received confirmation from one of the creators of the series that this is just another one of those utter nonsense rumours that pop-up every year. It isn’t happening folks.. Stand down, move along, there’s nothing to see here.

Original story:

Another year, another Blackadder rumour and like the past couple, this one again comes from the mouth of Sir Tony Robinson.

As usual I’ve reached out to those who would know about these sort of things and will update the post when I know more.

Sir Tony is currently promoting his new Channel 4 series Time Crashers.

THE stars of Blackadder have a cunning plan to bring the show back after 26 years.

Sir Tony Robinson, who played hapless Baldrick, revealed he has spoken with the rest of the cast about a new series.

And he said they were all in favour of reviving the comedy — despite joking that the producers might not now be able to afford US TV megastar Hugh Laurie.

Sir Tony, 69, said: “I do think a new series of Blackadder is on the cards. I have spoken to virtually all the cast about this now.

“The only problem is Hugh’s fee. He’s a huge star now — or so he’d like to think.”

Sir Tony, admitted any comeback risks disappointing the millions of fans of the original four series. He added: “Expectations for a new series will be high because people not only remember the original, they remember who they were when it was on. It’s a big danger.”

The last Blackadder series debuted on the BBC in 1989.

Sir Tony later presented Time Team, Rowan Atkinson created Mr Bean and Hugh Laurie became one of America’s top TV stars, earning £250,000 per episode of House.
